More revenue on a smaller budget.
An eCommerce client asked to cut monthly ad spend by 25% without losing revenue. Revenue roughly doubled instead.
The brief
The client already used JSB Digital for paid social. Performance there led them to move their Google Ads across as well — with a catch: they wanted to reduce their overall monthly outlay, which meant I inherited the account with 25% less budget than it had been running on. The aim was to hold revenue steady despite the cut.
What I did
- Audited the inherited account before changing anything, since the campaigns were live and spending.
- Identified underperforming keywords and removed them, then ran fresh keyword research to make sure the relevant topics were still covered.
- Restructured the campaigns around a broader selection of products, and introduced Shopping alongside the existing Search activity.
The results
Revenue rose to £21,266 from £10,270 — an increase of nearly £11,000 — while spend fell to £3,110 from £4,356. Return on ad spend went from 2.35 to 6.83, which is over £4 more back for every pound spent than the account had been managing before.
“James' data-driven approach has worked excellently. Despite reducing the ad spend he has doubled our revenue from PPC advertising in a matter of months. With the work he has done with Facebook ads as well, we really are delighted to have James assisting us with our paid advertising.”
